Illinois River Stories Returns and Shedd Begins

Nov. 06, 2007 Comments Off

Looks like the Peoria Art Guild wants to make changes to the Illinois River Stories piece I finished a while ago. We’re going to include more of the photos taken by the artists. Not difficult but time consuming.

I also got the Shedd Aquarium footage in. Beautiful stuff. It should make for a nice piece.

I’m trying some thing new with this project, editing with proxy files. There is over 400GB of DVCPROHD footage. Using the Offline RT HD setting in Final Cut Pro, the total of the proxy files is around 14GB at 384×186. This are fine for editing, all effects can be applied in Real time without rendering and can be edited over USB 2.0. The files have the same name as the originals thus I can reconnect them with the original HD footage easily.

This will take dead time and make it productive time.

Excitement Level is low…

Been pretty boring this week. I’ve been doing all sorts of things…

Like cleaning out the storage room. *Sigh* Oh well, I’ll live. I have been doing some training stuff. I’m also continuing my search for the best portable GTD solution. Oh yeah, I’ve also been doing some research for teaching my advanced multimedia class next semester. I also got the footage in house for the Shedd Aquarium piece I’ll be editing…

Guess it just seems boring. At least I’m keeping busy!

Why is it so hard to find a good, portable electronic GTD solution?

Once again, I’m in search of a good set of GTD tools. I think I’m good on my Macs, iGTD seems to fit the bill. I may try OmniFocus when it’s released. For now though, I’m good.

My problem is a portable solution. I can get my iGTD stuff to my iPod. I just don’t have a good, portable electronic task entry solution. The key for me is to be able to add things on the go and sync up later. I don’t want to use paper for capture and then have to re-enter the info when I’m at my computer.

Isn’t there any solution that easily crosses the portable divide?

Shedd Aquarium Reef Project

I’ve got a new HD project coming up this week. It’s editing some 1080i footage of a reef for the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Ought to be fun and pretty! More as know it…
