Craig Brewer’s Films – Wow!

I recently watched Craig Brewer’s Black Snake Moan and liked it so much I watched Hustle & Flow. Both are, in my opinion, incredible movies. Great stories of pain and redemption and incredible cinematography by Amy Vincent. I highly recommend both of these films.

Finally, I’ve gotten this thing going! Got the little problems ironed out and editing is proceeding apace. I should have most of it done before Thanksgiving. I was getting worried there for awhile!

Shedd Aquarium Project Moving Slowly

I’ve had some problems getting things going. Files with name changes between the proxies and original files, conversion issues, the list goes on. Ah, well. Who needs sleep anyway?

Illinois River Stories Returns and Shedd Begins

Looks like the Peoria Art Guild wants to make changes to the Illinois River Stories piece I finished a while ago. We’re going to include more of the photos taken by the artists. Not difficult but time consuming.

I also got the Shedd Aquarium footage in. Beautiful stuff. It should make for a nice piece.

I’m trying some thing new with this project, editing with proxy files. There is over 400GB of DVCPROHD footage. Using the Offline RT HD setting in Final Cut Pro, the total of the proxy files is around 14GB at 384×186. This are fine for editing, all effects can be applied in Real time without rendering and can be edited over USB 2.0. The files have the same name as the originals thus I can reconnect them with the original HD footage easily.

This will take dead time and make it productive time.
